Nature Bio Foods’ organic farmer from the Himalayan region of India, Mr Bahadur Singh Bajwal, has been re-elected as a Board member of Fairtrade NAPP in 2023 AGM. Fairtrade NAPP is a producer network that supports and empowers Fairtrade-certified farmers and workers across the Asia Pacific region. The producers share 50% ownership of the Fairtrade system and have an equal voice in all decisions that affect them. NAPP has 284 producer organizations across 20 countries in Asia and the Pacific Region, supporting more than 260,000 farmers and workers.
“I am honoured to be re-elected to the Board of Fairtrade NAPP,” said Bajwal, after getting elected in the Annual General Meeting of Fairtrade. “I look forward to working with my fellow Board members to promote fair trade and its benefits to farmers in the Himalayan region.”
Mr Bajwal has been a farmer for over 40 years and has devoted his life to organic farming. He is from Uttarakhand, India, and is a member of Nature Bio Foods’ organic rice project in Ramnagar. Mr Bajwal has been a Board member of Fairtrade NAPP since 2014, and due to his persistent efforts to safeguard the interest of farmers, he has been frequently chosen as the President of the group & still holds that designation.
Mr Bajwal has been a strong voice for farmers and workers associated with Fairtrade NAPP. His experience in organic farming, coupled with his passion for the betterment of the farming community, makes him a valuable asset to the organization. As a Board member, he will continue to represent the interests of farmers and workers and work towards securing a better deal for them.
Fairtrade NAPP’s vision is to create a world where smallholder farmers and workers have an equal voice and receive a fair price for their products. They work towards achieving this goal by supporting fair trade practices and empowering smallholder farmers and workers across the Asia Pacific region.
